"President Zoran Milanović has granted prior consent for the Croatian Armed Forces to participate in international missions throughout 2027 and 2028."

Croatia has officially approved plans for its armed forces to continue participating in crucial NATO and European Union missions and operations through 2027 and 2028. In addition, the country is preparing to join a new EU-led naval operation, further strengthening its role as a reliable international partner dedicated to global security and stability.

Croatian Armed Forces in International Security

President and Commander-in-Chief Zoran Milanović, acting upon the proposal of Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ivan Anušić, granted prior consent for the country's military engagement in various international activities. This covers ongoing NATO operations such as KFOR in Kosovo, Operation Sea Guardian in the Mediterranean, and multinational forces in Lithuania, Poland, and Hungary. Furthermore, Croatia will maintain its presence in EU naval operations EUNAVFOR Atalanta and IRINI, while also joining the new EUNAVFOR ASPIDES mission to safeguard navigation in the Red Sea.

The Importance of Stability for Tourism and Economy

While these decisions are primarily defense and geopolitical matters, their impact extends positively to the tourism sector. For years, Croatia has been recognized globally as one of the safest travel destinations. By actively contributing to regional and international security, Croatia reinforces its image as a secure, stable, and well-managed home for millions of international visitors.

Following constitutional requirements, the final approval for these deployments must be adopted by the Croatian Parliament by a majority vote. These strategic measures ensure Croatia's strong standing on the global stage while preserving the peace and safety that remain fundamental to the continuous growth of the nation's economy and tourism.
