"Croatia is set to receive its first international adaptation of the popular BBC series Death in Paradise, with filming scheduled on Brač in spring 2027."
Croatia is gearing up for a major television milestone as the stunning island of Brač is set to become the backdrop for the first-ever international adaptation of the globally acclaimed BBC crime drama Death in Paradise. The exciting announcement was made at the prestigious MIPCOM television industry event by BBC Studios chief executive Zai Bennett, confirming that the Croatian-language version will be titled Ubojstvo u raju (Murder in Paradise).
Produced by CGM Films for Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT), the upcoming six-part series will feature 60-minute episodes combining intricate murder mysteries with the breathtaking scenery of Supetar and the surrounding landscapes of Brač. The creative force behind the project includes producers Bruno Mustić and Ivan Lovreček, director Jelena Gavrilović, and writers Sonja Tarokić and Valentina Batalić, bringing together a powerhouse of domestic creative talent.
Since its 2011 premiere, the original British series has captivated audiences across more than 230 territories worldwide, becoming a beloved international television franchise. Bringing this globally recognized format to the Adriatic coast offers immense value for Croatian tourism. Brač, renowned for its pristine beaches and rich cultural heritage, will be introduced to entirely new audiences who may be inspired to visit the filming locations firsthand.
Although production is scheduled to kick off in the spring of 2027, anticipation is already high. This high-profile adaptation promises to further cement Croatia's reputation as a premier European hub for international film and television productions, blending gripping storytelling with unmatched Mediterranean natural beauty.
